  • Teachers in Kentucky are required to have an Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, AED and First Aid certification.
  • The Kentucky Department of Education directs school districts to mandate individualized training, including CPR, AED, and First Aid to Teachers and other school personnel
  • A practical (hands-on) skills component may be required by your local school district to maintain employment.
  • Those teaching Sports Management, Physical Education, Nutrition or Health courses may have additional requirements.
 

Course Content


Teachers in Kentucky usually need a Lay Rescuer CPR, AED certification. Required training should include; Adult, Child, Infant CPR, AED and First Aid.



Delivery Method

Teachers in Kentucky may complete their training online, in-person or via a blended course in order to meet their state licensure requirement. Different school districts may require a specific training method or a specific provider.

Board Statement:

702 KAR 1:160
Section 2(10)(b) states that there shall be at least one adult present in the school who is certified in a standard first aid course which includes CPR for infants and children. Refer to district policy to determine local training requirements.
